H.E.A.L.T.H. 2.0 second part
From April 10th to 19th, 2024, we participated in the second part of the youth exchange titled H.E.A.L.T.H. 2.0, organized by our Hungarian partner, the Foundation for the Youth Balatonalmádi. Similar to the first part, the main theme was to raise awareness about the importance of mental health among young people. The exchange involved youth from partner organizations from Poland, Hungary, Georgia, Greece, Italy, and Spain. This time, the youth gathered in the town of Vic near Barcelona, Spain.
We were accommodated in the Xanascat youth hostel, located at Avinguda d'Olímpia 4 in Vic, Barcelona, Spain. Vic turned out to be a charming town situated about 1.5 hours from Barcelona, nestled between mountains and the green fields of Catalonia. We were assigned to rooms in a way that ensured international integration from the very beginning, mixing with peers from other countries.
The second part of the exchange included both participants who took part in the first part and new participants. Because of this, the beginning of our meeting was filled with integration games, fun activities, and team-building exercises, many of which were prepared by the participants themselves.
The activities related to the main topic allowed us to pause the fast pace of the 21st century and pull young people out of their daily routines so that we could devote more time and energy to what is truly important in life. We focused on issues such as social norms and pressures, and the chaos caused by the rapidly changing world. We discussed the benefits of volunteering and strengthened self-awareness.
A break and cool experience for all of us was a trip to Barcelona, where we could explore the city's rich history, enjoy the sunshine (which shines more intensely this time of year than in Poland), and take a break from the serious discussions related to the main topic of our meeting.
After returning to our hostel, we continued with activities related to the main topic of the meeting. Among other things, we shared different aspects of the topic from the perspectives of our countries. The evening parts of the exchange were enriched by culinary and cultural presentations prepared by all groups, during which we could taste many traditional delicacies from the regions where our organizations operate.
Finally, it was time to summarize the meeting and prepare for the journey back to Poland. We had a long way to go, as our plane was landing in Krakow, from where we still had several hours to travel home.
We would like to thank our Hungarian partner, the Foundation for the Youth of Balatonalmádi, for another joint activity.
The exchange participants were: Piotr Bartoszek (group leader), Adam Mąka, Kacper Kowalski, Maks Smyk – from our partner school, C.K. Norwid Secondary school in Krasnystaw, volunteer Tosia Suchecka from Heureka, and our organization's member, Aleksandra Chudek.
The project was implemented within the framework of the European Erasmus+ program by the organization Youth of Balatonalmádi. The Heureka Generator Association was the Polish partner of the project.
