Spraycan - The power of street art II

Our Hungarian partner, the Co-Efficient association, for the second time organized a youth project focused on the topic of Street Art. HEureka was invited to participate and it was not the first time that we took part in a project based onb this topic. Members of our organization have previously participated in Street Art projects in Estonia and Ukraine. Before we tell you about what happened this time in Hungary, see what the first part of the project looked like in 2015.

This time, apart from groups from Poland and Hungary, participants from Romania, Greece, the Czech Republic and Cyprus were also involved.
The leader of the Polish group was Ms. Ewa Łubińska, an English teacher from the C.K. Norwid Secondary School from Krasnystaw. The participants of the Polish group were students from the same school and students of the W. Jagiełło Secondary School from Krasnystaw. Both schools are our local partners.

A month before the exchange, the group leaders met in the town of Gyöngyös to discuss future joint activities. Projects based on street art workshops are quite complicated in terms of logistics, therefore the teamwork of leaders and the correct division of responsibilities was crucial to achieve the final success. The evening school was also visited, which the participants were to visit during the exchange, and the public space made available by the city authorities for street art workshops.
After returning from the preparatory visit, the leader of the Polish group met with the participants to discuss the rights and obligations of the project participants and talk about the place where the exchange will take place. Thanks to these two meetings, the Polish group had good info about all things related to the project and could get ready for an educational adventure.
What happened during the exchange itself? The Polish group will tell you about it.

GRAFFITI - WHAT DID YOU THINK ABOUT THIS TOPIC BEFORE THE PROJECT, AND WHAT ARE YOU THINKING NOW?

Aleksandra Wolanin: Before the project, I thought it was something very difficult and not suitable for me. Now I think that it is something everyone can try, that it is very enjoyable and it develops our creativity. Before, I thought it was vandalism, but now I understand that it is an art in which you can express yourself.

THERE ARE MANY YOUNG PEOPLE WHO HAVE NEVER PARTICIPATED IN YOUTH EXCHANGES. WHAT WOULD YOU SAY TO ENCOURAGE THEM TO BE ACTIVE?

Aleksandra Wolanin: That it is worth trying and there is nothing to be afraid of, because it is an experience that nobody regrets. A great opportunity to broaden your horizons, visit interesting places and meet people from other countries, as well as improve your English.
